BLOG TIPS AND TRICKS
A NOTE ON BLOGS: I understand that many people struggle with various types of technology. Don't Panic! I am available to help walk you through the set up of your own blog. The goal here is to have an interactive space for you to engage with classmates outside the classroom. Make it as individual and dynamic as you. Check the syllabus for the detailed assignment, or look below for one of mine to use as a model.http://herestomakingteachingthenextchapter.blogspot.com/
- Make it interesting! Include pictures, videos and links in EACH post.
- Connect it to your daily life. Find articles and other content that makes connections between course material and your family, friends, job and hobbies. It will help you remember it.
- Talk to your classmates: comment, refer to each others posts...
- Personalize it. Add more than class content. Introduce us to your dog, Show us your art. Put up a Youtube of your music or spoken word. Tell us a story.
- Make sure you answer the prompts and have adequate length/analysis.
These tips will help you to create a blog that is both interesting and successful. Remember, posts that have nothing but paragraphs will not grade well. If I wanted responses of that format I would have you turn in a paper, so use this tool to the best of your ability. If you see something on a classmates' page and want it for yourself Ask!
